Ethiopia, Egypt keen to forge partnership in institutional capacity building

Ethiopia and Egypt expressed their keenness to draw lessons from each other’s foreign service institutions to the best end of forging partnerships in educational and cultural fronts thereby enhancing the capacity of their respective diplomats.

This has been emphasized during a meeting between State Minister Hirut Zemene and Ambassador Heba Elmarasy, Director of the Egyptian diplomatic institute here today (March 31, 2017).

State Minister Hirut Zemene noted that Ethiopia would learn much from the oldest Egyptian universities and diplomatic institutions and would work on strengthening the capacities of young diplomats of both countries.

Underlining the strong cultural affinity between the two countries, she added the peoples of Ethiopia and Egypt are connected by history, culture and the river Nile.

Ambassador Heba Elmarasy expressed her government’s readiness to work in concert with the Ethiopian Foreign Relations Strategic Studies Institute (EFRSSI).

Noting that the Egyptian diplomatic institute, with over 50 years of experience, is one of the oldest institute in Africa, the Ambassador stressed the need to forge educational and  cultural exchanges.

Representatives of trainee diplomats from the Egyptian diplomatic institute are currently in Ethiopia as part of an experience-sharing program.
