Ethiopia, Sudan ink agreement in various areas
The agreement was inked yesterday at the conclusion of the 4th Ethio-Sudan Joint Economic Committee Meeting held in Addis Ababa for three days.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael said the two countries are working to integrate with infrastructure and boost ties.
Among the areas the two countries agree to cooperate in the banking service.
In this regard, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia has finalized preparation to open its branch in Sudan soon, he said.
Opening a branch in Sudan will facilitate transaction among the two countries, he added.
The establishment of Ethio-Sudan Joint Economic Committee enables the two countries strengthens economic relations.
Hasabo Mohamed Abdurahman, Vice President of Sudan, said on his part that integrating the countries with infrastructure and cooperating in banking service will help to foster trade and ensure the benefit of citizens.
Saying the two nations have abundant livestock resources, he urged the need to work together to fight illegal activities in the area so as to maximize the benefit from the sector.
