“The Future Diplomat” Essay Contest

Foreign Relations Strategic Information Resources Center (FR-SIRC) of the FDRE Ministry of Foreign Affairs is worklogo44.jpging with different research organizations and universities to encourage students who are interested in research areas of international relations, diplomacy and foreign services.

This year we are starting an annual “The Future Diplomat” Essay contest for students both in undergraduate and graduate schools (Masters).

Essay Submission Requirements:

Students can choose one of the following topics;

  • The Role of Culture in Promoting Ethiopia’s National Interests
  • Image Building and the Role of Diplomats in Branding Ethiopia
  • Citizens Diplomacy – The role of citizens in diplomacy

All essays (or questions) should be submitted to getachewmfa@gmail.com and elroenegash@gmail.com. Please limit your essay submissions to a maximum of 1000 words. In your essay submissions, please include your: Email; Phone number; Age; Higher education institution; Degree program; Expected graduation year.

Winning Essayist Benefits:

  • Have his or her essay published on the quarterly Synergy Ethiopiamagazine and recognized as the winner of the 1st ‘The Future Diplomat’ Essay Contest.
  • A travel stipend for the costs related to a round-trip ticket to Addis Ababa if the winners are outside of Addis to attending the annual recognition ceremony.
  • Overnight accommodations at a selected hotel in Addis Ababa.
  • Certificate of recognition from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

How Essays will be judged:

A tangible idea with the potential to add something of global and Ethiopian values;Judges will be academicians from Universities and renowned researchers; Feasibility of the idea and quality of writing will be taken into consideration.

The submission deadline for all essays is Friday, April 30th. The winner of the contest will be notified by Friday, May 15th 2019.
