GCAO: Ethiopian troops under AMISOM will continue carrying out their mission

Ethiopian Government Communication Affairs Office Minister Getachew Reda on Wednesday (October 26) said Ethiopian troops under AMISOM will continue carrying out their mission in Somalia, while also noting that troops who are not under AMISOM are leaving some parts of Somalia assuming that the international community and the Somalia National Army would fill the gap.

He added Ethiopian troops under AMISOM are on their regular duties, and the country will continue to step up its effort to bring about peace and stability in Somalia.

The Minister however stressed the evacuation of these group of Ethiopian troops from some parts of Somalia has nothing to do with the recently declared state of emergency in Ethiopia.

He also maintained the decree allowed the government to control the violence; and stability has been restored in many parts of the country, adding that many investments are back in business.
